Generation Nanny, the Book
coming soon, spring 2020
Generation Nanny is the true story of a millennial woman’s journey as she searches for her life’s purpose.
As Audrey grapples with life’s disappointments, she tries to navigate the arduous journey of her 20's through reflective journaling. Over time, this practice morphed into a series of narrative stories about human connection, perseverance, and the strength of women.
Like every other Millennial, Audrey just wants to make an impact. As a social-science degree graduate, she could care less about making a living and is more focused on changing the world. After countless failed attempts to score a “real job”, Audrey spends three years nannying for seven families across the country.
Running from decision making, disappointment, and adulting, her nannying back-up plan begins to transform into her lifestyle. As she learns more about her mother’s nanny who raised her in the deep South, Audrey unexpectedly stumbles upon her life’s purpose by simply caring for others.
Generation Nanny contextualizes the current state of the American childcare system, and the intersectionality of women's careers, family planning, and a woman’s pursuit for equality in the worldplace. This book explores history, privilege, and feminism while revealing a universal truth that when women bind together to support each other’s families, careers, and lives, anything is possible.
